Make first class your choice

Hultafors - Ireland

The Hultafors family of steel tape measures reigns supreme when it comes to precision. Add excellent ergonomics, clever features and sturdy housing and craftsmen don’t need to look any further.

Your ability to use a tool depends a lot on how well it fits in your hand. That is why ergonomically correct tools will not only feel better, but in the end make you better and keep you working longer.

- Ergonomic design is always a focus area for our product development team, and our tape measures are no exception, says Håkan Carlsson, Product Manager at Hultafors.

This can be experienced by holding a Hultafors PR tape measure to see how well your fingers grip around the case, offering the right support and resulting in smooth operation.

The Hultafors steel tapes come as three different models. Hultafors BT is a robust tape for carpenters with a rubber end hook that won’t leave marks on sensitive surfaces. The SL model is slim and easy to fit and grab in your pocket, whereas Hultafors PR offers the latest in ergonomic design and clever features.

All share the same high precision of the unique scale printing technique. In 2017 Hultafors PR, BT and SL are the only Tape Measures on the market whose precision is certified with EC Class I.

- Our ability to offer outstanding precision is a result of many things. Considerate product development, the attention to detail in the manufacturing process and not the least our patented inkjet technique, explains Håkan Carlsson, Product Manager at Hultafors.

Some competing brands take pride in their tapes’ ability to “stand out” without folding.
- Maximizing the stand-out length is something we have deliberately chosen not to, explains Håkan Carlsson. It’s really not that complicated, it’s all about taking a wide tape and deepening the concave curve of the blade. But it also results in tape measure awkward to carry and with bigger risk of reading errors since the scale won’t be in contact with measuring surface.

In talks and tests with professional users the Hultafors product development team settled on stand-out lengths that achieve the right balance between ease-of-use and high-precision measuring.

- Keeping close contact with craftsmen using our tools is absolutely vital to us. We listen, and improve, and that is why we know our products are to rely on, says Håkan Carlsson, Product Manager at Hultafors.

Measure with precision

The most important consideration when choosing a tape measure is precision. And, of course, whether the tape is a smart and adroit tool to use on the job.

We place considerable emphasis on these considerations during the manufacturing process and have introduced a quality system that is certified in accordance with ISO 9001.

Make sure you measure with precision!

Grading technology

Most manufacturers of measuring tapes are using large wheels when grading, and then press the graduation by rolling off the scale on top of a steel band. This technique is easy to work with, but it can be some variations in the measurement scale because of the difficulty of getting a steady supply of steel band relative to the wheel.

These variations only makes the achievement of EU Class II.
